I want to give you a real understanding of how your nervous system works
1:1 Somatic Experiencing Sessions // Virtural + In Person (Twin Cities)
what is Somatic Experiencing® (SE)?
Somatic Experiencing® is a gentle, body-based approach to healing trauma, stress, and overwhelm — developed by Dr. Peter Levine. It’s rooted in the understanding that the body holds the imprint of past experiences, and that true healing happens through the nervous system, not just the mind.
With over 12 years of experience in embodied movement, mindfulness, and Buddhist practice, I bring a grounded, trauma-informed, and heart-centered lens to this work. Together, we slow down and listen to your body’s language — not to fix what’s broken, but to reconnect with what’s already wise and whole.
Each session offers space to explore sensations, impulses, images, and emotions — all held with compassion and care. There’s no pressure to revisit past events or talk through everything in detail. We work with what’s here and now.
Why We Go Slowly
My intention is to offer tools that help you expand your capacity to be with everything you're experiencing — so that you don’t need to rely on me or any one method forever.
This work is intentionally slow and respectful. That’s because your nervous system has adapted in brilliant, protective ways — even if those patterns now feel limiting or painful. Rather than force change, we create gentle conditions that support your system to move toward greater balance, safety, and resilience.
This is not a quick fix — and that’s what makes it so sustainable. The work unfolds at your pace, honoring what’s ready without overwhelming what’s not.
About My Approach
As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and part of the SE™ Professional Training assisting team, with over 12 years of experience in embodied movement, mindfulness, and Buddhist teachings, I bring a holistic, compassionate approach to your healing journey. My work is grounded in deep respect for the wisdom of your body and nervous system, offering tools that expand your capacity to be present with whatever arises. Together, we move gently and intentionally, allowing your nervous system to find new balance without disruption.
In our work together, I prioritize creating an environment that is respectful, attuned, and grounded in trauma-informed principles. Somatic Experiencing honors the innate intelligence of your nervous system and moves at a pace that supports your capacity in the moment. Rather than pushing for change, we work gently and collaboratively, allowing space for your system to shift when it’s ready. This approach can support the emergence of more ease, presence, and connection over time.
What Can Somatic Experiencing Support?
Unresolved trauma (accidents, surgeries, medical trauma, abuse, grief, or chronic overwhelm)
Anxiety or chronic stress that feels like it’s running your life
Emotional dysregulation, mood swings, or shutdown
Persistent physical tension or pain without a clear medical cause
Burnout or exhaustion, especially from caregiving or over-functioning
Feeling stuck, numb, or disconnected from yourself or others
A longing to feel more alive, authentic, and at home in your body
what to expect
Somatic Experiencing® is experiential — not a form of traditional talk therapy. I don’t diagnose, interpret, or create treatment plans, and I won’t ask you to retell or relive your past unless that feels important to you. In fact, we don’t have to talk about the “stuff” at all. I’m more interested in getting to know your organism — your body’s innate wisdom — and gently exploring what’s unfolding in the here and now.
In the beginning, we spend time getting to know your unique nervous system — learning how it responds to different stimuli, what helps it settle, and what signals dysregulation or ease. This early phase is essential. We focus on building stability and cultivating internal resources before ever approaching painful or activating experiences. That way, your system leads — not the story.
Each session unfolds at the pace that feels right for you. You might be sitting, lying down, or gently moving. I may invite awareness practices, breath, sound, or tuning into physical sensations. Everything is invitational — and you’re always in choice. My role is to hold a grounded, compassionate space for your process to unfold naturally.
Our work may include:
Mindful tracking of sensations, impulses, and emotions
Moments of stillness, grounding, or reflection
Gentle movement, vocalization, or breathwork
Contemplative inquiry or guided awareness
Support for expanding your capacity without overwhelm
You don’t need a “big trauma” to benefit from Somatic Experiencing®. Whether you're moving through anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, or simply feeling disconnected — this work can help you return to yourself with more clarity, ease, and resilience. You may uncover internal resources and insights you didn’t realize were there.
Between sessions, I may offer optional invitations or “homework” — like noticing particular sensations, tracking moments of ease or discomfort, or practicing a grounding exercise. These small experiments can help support integration and deepen your connection with your inner landscape.
When appropriate, I may also share Buddhist teachings or reframes that invite compassion, curiosity, and acceptance — as supportive perspectives that have helped many of my clients, including myself, soften around their experience. These teachings might offer ways of relating to challenge with less self-blame and more spaciousness, or practices that nourish clarity, presence, and patience.
Together, we create a space that feels supportive enough to explore, express, and just be — without rushing, fixing, or forcing. This work honors the brilliance of your nervous system and the creative ways it has adapted to help you survive. With time and care, we make space for something new to emerge — a deeper connection with your body, your breath, and the possibility of feeling more at home within yourself.

Talk therapy focuses on thoughts, behaviors, and emotional processing through dialogue. Somatic therapy works directly with the body and nervous system — using sensations, movement, and subtle awareness to support deeper regulation and healing, especially when words aren’t enough.
-
Somatic Experiencing® is supported by growing research and clinical evidence. While it's still considered a complementary approach by some, many studies and countless client experiences point to its effectiveness in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and stress-related conditions.
-
Everyone’s process is different. Some clients notice small shifts in the first few sessions; others choose to work together longer. Healing is rarely linear. We focus on building capacity and safety first — from there, lasting change becomes possible.
-
Both are effective, and it really depends on what feels most supportive for you. I offer sessions both in-person and virtually, and many clients find virtual work to be just as powerful, especially when they can settle into the comfort of their own space.
-
That feeling is real, especially if you've tried many things without relief. Somatic Experiencing is different because it doesn’t force change — it meets your system exactly where it is. We go slow, we stay curious, and we build trust with your body’s innate wisdom. Even a small shift can be meaningful. You don’t have to do this alone.

I’m a certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP), a member of the SE™ Professional Training assisting team, an Embodied Movement Facilitator, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, Yoga Teacher, and Buddhist practitioner. My work blends these approaches to offer a deeply trauma-informed, body-based path to healing, presence, and self-trust.
I’m not a licensed mental health professional or medical doctor. I specialize in helping people build a more compassionate relationship with their bodies and nervous systems, and reconnect with their innate resilience and capacity for aliveness. This means I don’t diagnose, prescribe medication, or offer treatment plans. Instead, I create spaces for personal exploration, nervous system education, and embodied integration that can complement other forms of care.
If you or someone you know is in crisis or needs immediate support, please text MHFA to 741741 or call 988 to reach a trained crisis counselor — they’re available 24/7 and it's confidential.

Since I’m not a licensed mental health therapist, I’m unable to bill insurance directly. However, I’m committed to offering rates that feel fair and supportive, and I’m happy to discuss options that work for your situation.
What I can do is offer myself, wholehearted and present, to walk with you through the fear and the mess. That’s all any of us can do. That’s what I am here for.
